Germano Di Chello is a British architect, co-founder and Creative Director of CORD.
Following his studies in architecture at the University of Westminster (1994-2000), Germano joined architectural practice Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands in November 2000. During his time at LDS (2000-2013) as a Project Director and Associate Director, he led teams and worked on a wide range of completed projects within the UK, Italy, Denmark and Russia. These included La Rinascente’s food halls in Milan, Rome and Cagliari, Illum’s food hall in Copenhagen, the relocatable Bermondsey One Stop Shop in London, Harvey Nichols’ restaurants in Manchester and Edinburgh, Moscow’s Tsvetnoy Central Market and the RIBA award-winning JW3 in London.
Germano began his flexible-time architecture practice in January 2014, subsequently co-founding and running CORD in May 2016. Within his practice, Germano’s completed and current projects include high-end residential and mixed-use renovations/refurbishments in London, restaurants and food retail projects in Italy and art/architecture collaborations.
Germano’s extensive 20-year experience, in the design and delivery of a wide range of projects, includes residential, commercial, retail, restaurants, lightweight structures, bridges, mixed-use schemes, installations and public realm interventions. His strong design focus centres on combining research into material technologies and construction methods with a desire to craft architectural solutions that respond to and enhance their context.
Germano is trilingual and of Italian-Ecuadorean descent. He lives in London with his long-term partner and two children; when they have a spare moment they enjoy travelling, especially to the Italian Apennines and the Scottish Highlands.
